El Morro
Great scenic rides in the Grants area include El Morro Inscription Rock National Monumenton about 35 miles on NM53 South. Stop and relax in the shade of towering ponderosa pines on this rolling drive through volcanic cinder cones and lava formations. Or take a short side trip to the Ice Caves. See why the area is known as the Land of Fire and Ice. Mt Taylor
Also known by natives as the Turquoise Mountain, Mt Taylor reigns serene and blue just north of the city of Grants. Bluewater Lake lies 28 miles west of Grants. Take I-40 west from town. Exit on NM 412. The curving paved highlway descends into the valley located on the north flank of the Zuni Mountains. The lake is stocked with catfish and trout. Camping is available. Info and maps Sky City Cultural Center and Haaku MuseumDiscover living history at the Acoma Pueblo, the oldest continually inhabited city in the US, which sits 367 feet above the desert floor atop a sheer rock walled mesa.
